Can you tell us about the role your organization plays in supporting individuals who are re-entering the community?
Reentry Services at Step-Up, Inc. focus on providing support to individuals who are at risk of criminal legal involvement, are currently experiencing incarceration, and/or identify as being impacted by the criminal legal system. Step-Up’s approach to reentry focuses on introducing interventions pre-release and centering health, mental health, and wellness as a critical component of our services. Our team's mission statement is:“Our reentry team empowers individuals to achieve their goals and improve their quality of life through personalized care. We guide transformation with love and compassion, helping people become agents of their own success.”
How does being part of the MCRC align with or support your organization’s mission?
Our missions are clearly aligned, as both Step-Up and the MCRC are deeply committed to supporting individuals impacted by the criminal legal system. Being actively engaged in the MCRC allows us to stay connected to a broader network of providers and advocates who share our values and are working toward systemic change.
Can you share an example of how MCRC membership has enabled you to better serve individuals in reentry?
One of the most valuable aspects of being involved in the MCRC has been the opportunity to connect, collaborate, and problem-solve with other organizations and community partners. Through regular spaces like the Tuesday Reentry Calls, Reentry ECHO, and the Annual Conference, we’re able to staff complex client situations, stay current on available resources and best practices, and build support networks that help us stay grounded and committed to this important work.
